How manager assignment works
Each building in Cohabit can have:
One primary Strata Manager (responsible for the building)
Assigning a manager:
Controls who sees the building under Managed by me
Routes notifications and alerts to the right person
Links the building’s Health Score to the correct manager for portfolio reporting
You manage this from the My Buildings list using the three-dot menu.

Once selected, Cohabit will save the assignment.
The chosen manager will now:
See this building under Managed by me
Receive relevant alerts and notifications
Be associated with this building’s Health Score in portfolio views
How to change the Strata Manager for a building
If the building needs to move to a different manager:
Go back to Buildings → My Buildings.
Find the building.
Click the three dots (⋯) next to it.
Select Assign Strata Manager again.
Pick a different manager from the dropdown.
The new manager will immediately become responsible for that building.
The building will appear under their Managed by me list and no longer under the previous manager’s.
How to remove a manager (make a building unassigned)
If your team uses an “unassigned” state (e.g. while reallocating work):
Open the three dots (⋯) menu for the building.
Choose Assign Strata Manager.
Select the “No manager / Unassigned” option (if available) or clear the field.
The building will no longer appear under any manager’s Managed by me view until a new manager is assigned.
How this affects the Cohabit Health Score
Manager assignment doesn’t change the score itself, but it does change:
Who is accountable for improving and maintaining the score
Which manager’s portfolio the building appears in when analysing Health Scores
Who receives alerts about declining scores, missing data or upcoming issues
Reassigning a manager is useful when portfolios are rebalanced or when a building changes hands internally.
FAQs
Who can assign or change the Strata Manager?
Only users with the right permissions (typically Admins or senior managers) can assign or change the Strata Manager from the My Buildings page.
Why don’t I see someone in the manager dropdown?
They may not have the correct role (e.g. they’re not set up as a Strata Manager in your team) or may not have access permissions. Ask your admin to update their role.
Does assigning a manager change the strata company for the building?
No. The strata company attached to the building stays the same. This article only covers which person within your company manages the building.
Will the manager be notified when they are assigned a new building?
Depending on your notification settings, the manager may receive an email and/or in-app notification when they’re assigned to a new building.
