What you see next depends on whether a strata company is already managing that building in Cohabit.
If the building is already managed by another strata company
Cohabit only allows one strata company per building.
When you select an address that is already linked to another strata company, you’ll see a message like:
Building is currently managed by other strata company.
Click here to request a change.

Request a change of manager
Click Click here to request a change.
Complete the request form (reason for change, confirmation that you now manage the building, etc.).
Submit the request.
The Cohabit team will review and, once approved, reassign the building to your strata company.
You won’t be connected immediately in this case; connection happens after the change is processed.
If the building does NOT have a manager yet
If no strata company is currently managing the building in Cohabit:
You’ll be taken straight to the Edit a Building page for that address.
Here you can confirm or complete the building details.
Step 4: Complete building details (if known)
On the Edit a Building screen you’ll see fields like:
Street, Suburb, State, Postcode
Full address
Strata plan number and date registered
Lot count
Date constructed
About this building (description)
Features (e.g. gym, pool, CCTV, communal spaces)
Option to Add a Picture for the building

You don’t have to fill in everything — just complete what you know.
You can come back and update the rest later.
Step 5: Save & connect
Once you’ve reviewed or added details, click Update (or Save) at the bottom of the page.
The building will be saved and your strata company will be connected as the manager.
The building will now appear under My Buildings in your list.
How connecting affects the Cohabit Health Score
The Cohabit Health Score is the best way to quantify the health of a building.
After you’re connected:
The building becomes eligible for a Health Score
The score will improve as you add:
Insurance details
Compliance and safety records
Recurring activities
Core building information
If important data is missing, the building may show as Incomplete or have no score yet.
If there is no Health Score yet
If a building doesn’t have enough data for Cohabit to calculate a score, you’ll be able to upload files (e.g. insurance schedules, compliance certificates, reports) directly to the Cohabit team.
We’ll use these documents to:
Fill data gaps
Review the building
Produce an accurate Health Score for you
FAQs
Why can’t I connect to a building I manage?
If another strata company is already assigned, you’ll need to submit a request a change from the Connect to a Building window.
Can there be more than one strata company on a building?
No. Each building can only be managed by one strata company in Cohabit at a time.
Do I have to complete every field on the Edit a Building page?
No. Fill in anything you know now — you can always update the building later. However, more complete data helps Cohabit generate a more accurate Health Score.
Why is the Health Score missing or low?
There may not be enough data yet (e.g. no insurance, compliance or activity records). Add what you can, or upload documents so Cohabit can help build the score.
