Setting up your Strata Company Account

Create your company profile in Cohabit so your team can manage buildings, track renewals and respond to owner activity.

Who is this article for

Strata Managers who are setting up their Cohabit account for the first time and need to complete the full onboarding process (email + phone verification, company creation/selection, Building Intelligence trial).

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • Access to the email address you’ll use for your account

  • A mobile phone that can receive SMS messages

  • Your company name (or confirmation that the company already exists in Cohabit)

This onboarding process takes around 2–3 minutes.


Step 1: Start your account setup

You will begin from the “Set up your Strata Manager account” link provided by Cohabit.

You’ll see a welcome screen prompting you to begin the signup process.

Click Get Started (or continue).


Step 2: Verify your email

  1. Enter your email address.

  2. If prompted, click Send verification.

  3. Check your inbox for a verification email.

  4. Click the verification link or follow the on-screen instructions.

Once verified, you’ll automatically proceed to the next step.


Step 3: Enter your mobile number

You’ll now be asked to confirm your identity with a mobile number.

  1. Enter your mobile number.

  2. Click Send Code.

Step 4: Verify your phone (4-digit SMS code)

  1. You will receive a 4-digit SMS code on your phone.

  2. Enter the code into Cohabit.

  3. Click Verify.

If the code doesn’t arrive, you can request a new one after a short delay.


Step 5: Create your password

  1. Enter a secure password that meets the requirements on screen.

  2. Confirm the password if required.

  3. Click Continue.


Step 6: Agree to policies

Before continuing, you must accept:

  • Cohabit’s Terms & Conditions

  • Privacy Policy

Tick the checkbox and click Continue.


Step 7: Add your name

  1. Enter your first name and last name.

  2. Click Continue.

This is the name that will appear on communications and inside your team workspace.


Step 8: Choose your role

You’ll now be asked how you use Cohabit.

Select your role:

  • Strata Manager

  • Assistant / Support

  • Operations / Admin

This helps Cohabit set the correct permissions and experience for your workflow.


Step 9: Select or create your company

You’ll now see a search field to choose your strata company.

If your company already exists in Cohabit

  1. Start typing the company name.

  2. Select it from the dropdown list.
    Only pre-existing strata companies will appear in the list.

  3. Click Continue.

If your company does NOT appear

  1. Choose Create new company.

  2. Enter your company name and basic details.

  3. Click Create to finish.

This step determines where your buildings, team and portfolio will live inside Cohabit.


Step 10: Commence your Building Intelligence trial

Once your account and company are set up, you’ll see the Building Intelligence trial screen — the one shown in your screenshot.

Here you can:

  • Learn about Cohabit Building Intelligence

  • See features like reporting, health scoring and benchmarking

  • Review how this product helps Strata Managers manage their portfolio

Click Commence Trial to begin.

If you prefer to skip for now, you can return to Building Intelligence later.

Step 11: You’re all set!

After completing the trial screen, you’ll land inside your Cohabit workspace.

From here, you can:

  • Import your buildings

  • Invite your internal team

  • Manage building contacts

  • Start communicating with owners and committee members

  • Access your portfolio health insights (if the trial is active)

Troubleshooting

I didn’t receive my email verification link

  • Check Spam/Junk

  • Try resending the verification

  • Confirm your email was typed correctly


My SMS code isn’t arriving

  • Check your mobile signal

  • Ensure your number is correct

  • Click Resend code

  • Avoid VOIP numbers (these may not receive SMS codes)


My company doesn’t show in the search

  • Make sure you’ve typed the full name

  • Confirm the company is a strata business

  • If still not found, select Create new company


I accidentally joined the wrong company

You will need to contact Cohabit Support to correct your company assignment.
