Setting up your Owner Profile

Create your Cohabit Owner profile so you can connect to your building and lot.

Who this article is for

  • New lot owners signing up to Cohabit

  • Existing owners who want to understand how the owner setup flow works


Before you start

To set up your Owner profile, you’ll need:

  • A valid email address

  • A valid mobile phone number (used for verification)

  • Access to your email and phone to receive verification codes

You can sign up using:

  • A desktop web browser

  • A mobile browser (iOS or Android)

  • The Cohabit iOS app


Step-by-step: signing up as an Owner

Step 1 – Enter your email and verify it

  1. Open Cohabit (web or iOS app).

  2. On the sign-up screen, enter your email address.

  3. We’ll send a 4-digit verification code to your email.

  4. Enter the code to confirm your email.

Your email becomes your login ID for Cohabit.


Step 2 – Enter your phone number and verify it

  1. Enter your mobile phone number.

  2. We’ll send a 4-digit SMS code.

  3. Enter the code to verify your number.

Your phone number helps keep your account secure.


Step 3 – Create a password and accept terms

  1. Create a password for your Cohabit account.

  2. Confirm your password.

  3. Click Continue.


Step 4 – Finalise your profile

You’ll now be asked to complete your profile so Cohabit can tailor your experience.

You’ll be prompted to:

  • Enter your first and last name

  • Choose what best describes you:

    • Buyer

    • Lot owner

    • Strata manager

Selecting Lot owner ensures you see owner-specific features like apartment connections, payments, and owner-only building insights.


Step 5 – Enter the platform and connect your first apartment

Once your profile is complete, you’ll be taken inside the Cohabit platform.

At this point:

  • A prompt appears asking you to connect your first apartment

  • You can:

    • Search for your apartment address

    • Enter your apartment number

    • Select your occupancy type

Important to note:

  • Connecting an apartment is recommended, but not mandatory

  • You can skip this step and continue using Cohabit

  • You can connect an apartment later at any time from the Apartments section


Step 6 – Apartment connection and verification

If you choose to connect your apartment:

  • Your request is submitted to Cohabit

  • Ownership is verified to protect privacy

  • Once verified, you’ll gain full owner access to:

    • The My Apartments tab

    • Owner-only building insights

    • Payments and levy tracking


What happens next?

Once you’re inside Cohabit, you can:

  • View and research building profiles

  • Connect additional apartments

  • Track payments and levies

  • Access expert insights once available

Can I skip connecting my apartment during sign-up?
Yes. You can skip this step and connect your apartment later from the Apartments section.

Why does Cohabit verify apartment ownership?
Verification helps protect sensitive building and owner data and ensures only authorised users see owner-only information.

Can I connect more than one apartment?
Yes. You can add multiple apartments at any time.

What if I chose the wrong profile type?
You can update your profile later in account settings or contact Cohabit support via in-app chat.
